Top 10 Frustrating Things When You’re In Bed

Last Updated on September 26, 2023

There are very few things in life that are as frustrating as forgetting something once you’re actually in bed. Or having to get out of bed when you don’t want to.

When it’s time to relax – or sleep – you don’t want anything to interrupt you. And anything that does interrupt, is maddening!

Here is our list of the Top 10 most frustrating things when you’re actually in bed.

1.) Having To Get Out Of Bed To Turn Off A Light

There is nothing more frustrating in life than having to get out of bed, once you’re already in and comfortable. And having to get out of bed for something silly – like turning off a light – just makes things worse.

You know what we’re talking about.

You get into bed and wiggle your way into position. You’ll start to feel comfortable, and drowsy. But oh no! The light is still on!! Damn it!!!

Agh!!!

Fortunately, there is a fix. You need to get smart light bulbs.

Smart lights work like “smart” anything else.

You screw them in like regular bulbs. Then, give each smart light bulb a name, like “Bathroom Light” for example. After that, you can control each light with your phone. Or Alexa. Or Google.

You never have to get out of bed to turn off the light ever again!

2.) Having To Get Out Of Bed To Pee

This is as annoying as having to get out of bed to turn off the lights.

Unfortunately, there’s no easy fix!

3.) The Phone Hitting You

It’s happened to all of us. You’re laying in bed, scrolling, or watching a YouTube video. And then your phone slips out of your hand. And then it smacks you right in the face!

This has probably happened to you more than once. It probably happens often too!

If this sounds familiar, you need a gooseneck phone mount for beds.

A gooseneck phone mount looks silly, but it’ll let you use your smartphone or tablet hands-free. And it won’t let your device fall and smack you on your face.

4.) Forgetting To Unplug Something

Sometimes it’s a TV in a different room. Or maybe an appliance. Forgetting to unplug or turn something off can be frustrating – especially if you don’t want to get out of bed for it!

For these instances, you need a WiFi smart plug.

A WiFi smart plug works like a smart bulb. You plug it into the outlet, and download the app. Then you can go into the app, and turn it off.

When the smart plug is off, so is whatever is plugged into it.

5.) Calls & Texts When You’re Trying To Sleep

When you’re trying to sleep – or sleep in – incessant calls and texts are disruptive and annoying.

But all smartphones today have a “Do Not Disturb” feature – so use it!

On iPhones, you’ll click on the moon icon. For Android phones, swipe down from the top menu bar, and choose the “Do Not Disturb” icon.

Choose your length of time, and a few other settings, and your phone will remain silent. If you have alarms set, you can exclude them.

6.) Disruptive Noise

Nothing disrupts sleep like noise. Whether it’s a partner who snores or the noise of traffic outside – it’s just frustrating. Especially when it keeps you up all night.

But it doesn’t have to.

There are a lot of noise-suppression products available, like Sleepbuds from Bose.

Sleepbuds use passive noise-masking technology, which involves two stages. First, Sleepbuds fit snugly in your ear, while the ear tip forms a seal for passive sound reduction.

Then, noise-masking sounds, which are optimized to play consistently –  and at the right frequencies – mask the noise of snoring (or any other sleep-disturbing noises for that matter).

They completely block out all outside noise!

7.) Pestering Flies & Insects

Just like the sound of passing by traffic, a fly buzzing around you can be very frustrating!

During the summer months, it seems like there’s always a fly buzzing around. At night, it can keep you from sleeping. In the morning – particularly on a weekend – it can wake you up when you’re trying to sleep in.

If flies are your issue, you need an indoor flytrap.

This type of trap plugs in and has 3 sections. An attractive light wave, that bugs can’t resist. A quiet fan, to keep them from escaping. And a sticky glue board to finish them off.

Put the trap anywhere in your room, and it will quietly do its job.

8.) Open Blinds When You’re Trying To Sleep In

When you’re trying to sleep in on a weekend morning, light can be very disruptive. And having to get up to close the blinds can be frustrating.

The last thing you want to do when you’re trying to sleep in is to get out of bed. Like with everything else on this list, convenience is key.

You need a set of smart blinds.

Smart blinds are motorized blinds. You can control them from bed with your smartphone, Alexa, Google, etc.

If sunlight bothers you, a click of the button closes them.

9.) Forgetting The TV Remote

You got into bed. Got comfortable. And now you’re gonna watch your show, or a movie, etc. But damn, you forgot the remote! Or maybe you didn’t forget, but the batteries are dead! Now what?

A streaming device that can be controlled from your phone would be awesome. Something like a Roku.

Plug it into your TV and connect to the internet. Then download the app on your phone, and you’re set. Roku also works with Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, etc.

You can link all of your streaming accounts, like HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video.

10.) Forgetting Your Phone

Forgetting your phone is super annoying!

And for most of the issues above, we used your phone to turn on or off whatever the issue was. But what if your phone isn’t within reach? Not having your phone handy defeats the purpose of these devices right?

Well not really. Almost all of the devices above can be used with Alexa or Google Assistant.
