Malouf has multiple pillow protectors available. But which one is right for you?
Malouf has 6 pillow protectors, each with a unique set of features. Different materials, additional barriers, etc. Choosing one or the other can be difficult.
Let’s take a look at what you need, and narrow down the options.
What Are Your Priorities?
A pillow protector provides several key benefits.
First and foremost, it protects your pillow from liquids, allergens, dust mites, etc. But it can also do more! Several models have cooling technology, to keep your pillow cool, for example.
You might also want a thin material. Or a quieter material. Also, not all models will protect against bed bugs.
Let’s do a quick summary of the models available, then figure out which is the right model for you. We all have different priorities after all.
Keep in mind, that Malouf’s pillow protectors come in sets of 2.
Malouf Pillow Protector Models
This is their basic model. It’s made of terry cloth and has an H2Pro® liquid-proof membrane. This model protects against liquids, allergens, and dust mites.
The terry cloth surface also adds a layer of softness. Is your current pillow super firm or made of memory foam? You’ll appreciate this extra layer of comfort.
As far as protection goes, this model offers the same level of protection as the more expensive models. So if you’re just concerned about protection – this is good enough!
PR1ME® SMOOTH PILLOW PROTECTOR
An ultra-thin basic model. Instead of terry cotton, this protector is made of polyester. This also has the H2Pro® liquid-proof membrane. It also offers the same protection against liquids, allergens, and dust mites.
The difference here is the smooth and thin polyester fabric. For the average person, either the Smooth or Terry models are a good choice.
The ultimate in cooling technology. Innovative IceTech™ fabric continually dissipates body heat for a comfortable sleep climate. If you require a cool sleeping environment, and you want protection, this is your choice.
The HD Encase pillow protectors feature patented encasement protection. They completely block bed bugs, liquids, dust mites, and allergens.
This protector offers a pillowcase-style fit and zippered end. While most pillow protectors are used in addition to a pillowcase, this protector can be used as a pillowcase as well.
Which Pillow Protector Should I Choose?
Let’s simplify this as much as possible.
A pillow protector’s job is to protect your pillow from substances or creatures that can cause it damage. It’s a “bodyguard” for your pillow.
Let’s figure out your priorities, and that will help us figure out which model is best for you.
Do you want a liquid-proof option?
All of the Malouf pillow protectors are liquid-proof. If this is your main priority, the Terry or Smooth models are great choices.
Do you regularly wake up with bug bites on your face or neck? Does your pillow make you itchy?
Your pillow is probably full of bed bugs. You’ll want, specifically, the Encase LT or HD option.
Are you a clean freak? Do you vacuum around and under your bed frequently? Do you wash your pillows frequently?
Then any model will be fine. The Terry or Smooth models are the most inexpensive – and the most logical option.
Does your pillow make you sweat a lot? Do you want a cooler pillow?
The IceTech model will maintain a cool sleeping surface.
Do you want your pillow to last as long as possible?
The Encase LT or HD options, specifically, are the best bet. They block everything and anything from entering your pillow.
While not as important with down alternative pillows, this is a must with an expensive goose-down pillow. Bed bugs, of course, feed on goosedown (and feathers).
So, this dramatically shortens its lifespan.
Do you suffer from extreme allergies or asthma?
The Encase LT or HD options are the best choices. They offer the best protection, for example, against the many different allergens that are present.
